Susannah Goodwin, a poor woman.<br />

The French and Indian war continued to be a source <strong>of</strong><br />

trouble, and quite a large delegation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Amesbury</strong> men went<br />

to Lake Ge<strong>org</strong>e, either as soldiers or laborers.<br />

I find among Col. Jonathan Bagley's papers the following<br />

account <strong>of</strong> men who worked on the batteaux at the lakes :<br />
