Nov. 30th. Henrie Kimball first appears and receives a grant<br />

<strong>of</strong> land on the river.<br />

" Salsberry is enjoyned to amend their ways upon paine <strong>of</strong><br />

20 s."*<br />

"Salsberry, for want <strong>of</strong> weights & measures, is fined 20 s. 6 d."<br />

To end small causes, Mr. Batt, Mr. Dudley and Mr. Winslow<br />

were appointed, " and one <strong>of</strong> them to see people joyne in mar-<br />

riage & keepe records."*<br />

" Mr. John Woodbridge, Mathewe Boyse, John Crosse & Ge<strong>org</strong>e<br />

Gittings, they 4 or any 3 <strong>of</strong> them are appointed to set out the<br />

bounds betweene Salsberry & Pantucket, ali. Haverell. They<br />

are to determine the bounds w ch Mr. Ward & his company<br />

are to inioy as a town or village if they have 6 houses up by<br />

the next Gen r all Court in the 8 th m ."*<br />

March 1st. John Clifford, planter, sold to Thomas Hauxworth<br />

for 32 s. his house-lot <strong>of</strong> one acre on the west <strong>of</strong> the circular<br />

road. His residence is given at Hampton at this time.<br />

1642.<br />

Jan. 3d. A general meeting held, and it was agreed " that<br />

y e Constable for y e time being shall not yerely be ffreed from<br />

anie Rate."<br />

Henrie Munday was chosen constable.<br />

John Hall, John Sanders and Richard North were chosen to<br />

take account <strong>of</strong> pipe-staves to be transported "yat no man exceed<br />

his p r portion."<br />

Whenever the authorities could make a contract to sell pipe-<br />

staves for shipment to the West Indies, each inhabitant was<br />

allowed to fill his proportionate share ; and it is possible that<br />

some were disposed to do more than that ; hence<br />

tee.<br />

Jan. 10th. At a general meeting, the following order was<br />

passed :<br />
