that the matters they do act on shall be carryed on according<br />

to law, provided also that each man <strong>of</strong> y e aforesaid company<br />

have notice <strong>of</strong> all bisness according to law and all including<br />

The meeting having fixed the number <strong>of</strong> commoners and<br />

passed upon various other matters, it was important that a clerk<br />

should be chosen to make the record ; and the following order<br />

was passed :<br />

"At the same meeting it was ordered that Thomas Macy<br />

shall record the orders <strong>of</strong> the Company & to this end shall have<br />

3 d. a meeting allowed to him and also apointed to record all<br />

& every the Articles <strong>of</strong> Agreement made between the old town<br />

& us."<br />

"At the same meeting it was agreed that what staves are<br />

made upon the common by the tyme the articles between the<br />

old town and us were agreed upon that whoever has made pipe-<br />

staves hogshead staves barrel staves or heading shall pay to the<br />
