QUARTER OF THE 17TH CENTURY<br />

with turned fruitwood body of doughnut form, fitted with a<br />

pierced bone plug in the centre, profusely inlaid over its<br />

entire surface with circular arrangements of horn rondels<br />

enclosed within brass frames and enriched with pieces of<br />

contrasting horn and minute brass stars, fitted with a pair<br />

of suspension loops, and sprung moulded brass nozzle,<br />

probably later (small losses and cracks, some brass wire<br />

lifting)<br />

female figure in contemporary dress within a woodland<br />

enclosure, steel nozzle with spring cut-off (pitted), and later<br />

wooden basal cap (belt hook missing)<br />
