ring-guard fitted with a scalloped plate, knuckle-guard and<br />
an additional bar joining the knuckle-guard to the ringguard,<br />
rear-guard formed en suite, and faceted plummetshaped<br />

by a figure-of-eight shaped moulding and joined by a<br />
diagonal bar, ring-guard formed of a pair of bars filled with<br />
a steel plate chased with a grotesque mask, thumb-loop,<br />
and small plummet-shaped pommel, and the grip with a<br />
later binding of plaited wire and Turks’ heads<br />

the base, fitted with an up-turned scalloped plate, and<br />
faceted ovoid pommel, and the grip bound with plaited<br />
