A FINE PAIR OF PERCUSSION OFFICER’S PISTOLS BY<br />

JOSEPH KEMP, 31 DUKE ST, GROSVENOR SQUARE,<br />

LONDON, NO.5007, CIRCA 1846-49<br />

with browned twist barrels of musket bore, signed on a<br />

broad full length flat, fitted with blued bead fore-sights and<br />

blued blade back-sights, engraved case-hardened patent<br />

breeches, engraved case-hardened breech tangs decorated<br />

with scrolling foliage, engraved bolsters with platinum<br />

plugs, signed bolted engraved case-hardened locks<br />

decorated with scrolls and border ornament, highly figured<br />

polished walnut full stocks, chequered butts, engraved<br />

steel mounts comprising blued trigger-guards, casehardened<br />

trigger-plates, case-hardened butt-caps with<br />

traps, moulded ramrod-pipes, German silver barrel bolt<br />

escutcheons, vacant German silver escutcheons, horn foreend<br />

caps, blued steel stirrup ramrods, and retaining some<br />

original finish throughout: in their original fitted mahogany<br />

case lined in green baize, the lid with brass flush-fitting<br />

carrying handle, applied with trade label for 31 Duke Street,<br />

and complete with Frith patent planished powder-flask<br />

(worn), rammer, nipple wrench and turnscrew (case lid<br />

slightly warped, lining with very light wear and minor<br />

fading)<br />
