with swamped barrel signed in silver on the flat, fitted with<br />
brass fore-sight surrounded by silver scrolls, chiselled and<br />
gilt with a stag vignette within a panel of scrolling foliage en<br />
rocaille over the breech and stamped with the barrelsmith’s<br />
marks (Neue Støckel 7719 and 7720), gold-lined vent,<br />
chiselled and gilt tang with folding leaf back-sight, rounded<br />
lock chiselled and gilt with rococo ornament including a<br />
stag en suite with the breech, set trigger, figured walnut full<br />
stock carved with scrollwork and shell ornament in relief<br />
about the barrel tang and behind the rear ramrod-pipe,<br />
spurred steel trigger-guard (an early working replacement),<br />
silver mounts cast and chased in low relief, comprising solid<br />
side-plate decorated with scrolls and shells surrounding a a<br />
pair of does and a stag feeding within a landscape, butt-cap<br />
decorated with stag and a doe within a woodland, a pair of<br />
faceted ramrod-pipes, escutcheon with a reclining doe, horn<br />
fore-end cap, and original horn-tipped wooden ramrod<br />

HOLSTER PISTOLS BY H.DEVILLERS, CIRCA 1750<br />
with swamped sighted barrels engraved with strapwork<br />
enclosing simple flowers over the breeches, engraved<br />
barrel tangs incorporating the back-sights, rounded locks<br />
signed beneath the steel springs, figured walnut full stocks<br />
carved in low relief about the barrels tangs and the rear<br />
ramrod-pipes (one stock repaired about the tang and with<br />
light worm damage), ‘bird’s head’ pommels (each<br />
repaired), full silver mounts cast and chased in low relief,<br />
comprising side-plates pierced with a design of scrolling<br />
foliage including an issuant serpent mask, butt caps<br />
decorated with a symmetrical arrangement of scrolling<br />
foliage centring on an issuant monstrous mask, triggerguards<br />
with acanthus finials, and a pair of moulded ramrodpipes<br />
(later ramrods)<br />
