CHEOS Clinical Education See Appendix 2 for information Offers clinical research education to investigators and clinical research coordinators. Series on CHEOS 4-6 persons located in Vancouver CRPD supports professional development of clinical research coordinators and research staff involved in all aspects of clinical research. It is focused on the Lower Mainland, with the potential to broaden the initiative throughout B.C. The CRPD program is an education initiative led by a group of individuals committed to supporting the professional development of clinical research coordinators, managers and others involved in clinical research from the Lower Mainland’s teaching hospitals’ research institutes. It offers seminars and workshops in accordance with a structured curriculum. Attendees can receive a certificate of attendance for documentation of their participation which can be used for continuing education credits. The CRPD program comprises quarterly workshops on topics including: • GCP • Budgeting and Finance • Ethics and Regulatory Issues • Human Resources • Communication Skills • Project Management CFRI also provides a monthly education forum specific to Clinical Research Coordinators. HIS provides courses to train students in the identification of information and data needed by doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, government planners and other health care professionals and how they are used in order to make effective health care decisions. Relevant undergraduate courses include: • Epidemiology • Medical methodology • Healthcare ethics and project management. Graduate studies HIS offers programs of study leading to the degree of MSc. The school also offers an oncampus special arrangements program of study leading to the degree of PhD in Health Information Science. The School has well established linkages to health care organizations within B.C. and Canada that allow faculty and student to conduct research in a variety of health related field settings.
