Independent Corporations Offering Clinical Trials Services
B.C. is home to at least 25 independent organizations that offer clinical trials services, as listed in Table
14 and Appendix 11. These are generally for-profit (the exception is the Victoria Heart Institute Foundation).
The focus of these companies is shown in Figure 15, with 64% involved in setting up and managing
clinical trials. Of the eight investigator-operated clinical trials companies, five are disease-specific
(one each dealing with cancer, urology, endocrinology, gastrointestinal, and cardiology). A number of
the analytical services companies also offer preclinical services (see below).
