It uses the VGH pharmacy in the conduct of its clinical trials.
Quality control and assurance are procedures are based on Good Clinical Practice regulations and
guidelines of the FDA/Health Canada. The division has extensive SOPs and provides regular training sessions
for researchers and staff members in the conduct of clinical studies.

The Lung Centre
The Lung Centre (http://lungcentre.vch.ca/) specializes in the treatment of pulmonary conditions such
as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, lung cancer, occupational and environmental
lung diseases, sarcoidosis, pnuemonia, tuberculosis, pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung
disease. As well as its clinical activities, the Lung Centre also has dedicated research space in which it
conducts multiple research projects.
The clinical trials unit primarily conducts Phases II, III, and IV clinical trials, as well as investigator-initiated
studies. Studies accrue approximately 140 patients per year (10% of the estimated 1,440 new patients
seen at the clinic per year).
The facility has 16 investigators as listed below. Their details can be found in Appendix 6. Its structure is
shown in Figure A7.
