CHPC is an interdisciplinary research group in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University. CHPC focus is on integrating<br />

research <strong>and</strong> policy to improve children’s social <strong>and</strong> emotional well-being or children’s mental health. CHPC work complements the mission<br />

of the Faculty of Health Sciences to integrate research <strong>and</strong> policy for population <strong>and</strong> public health locally, nationally <strong>and</strong> globally.<br />

CHPC have prepared systematic reviews of the best available research evidence on the prevention <strong>and</strong> treatment of children’s mental<br />

disorders.<br />

DOP of U<strong>BC</strong> <strong>and</strong> B.C.’s Children’s Hospital consists of physicians, scientists, allied health professionals <strong>and</strong> administrative staff trained in<br />

pediatric <strong>and</strong> allied child health disciplines. DOP m<strong>and</strong>ate is to provide leadership <strong>and</strong> excellence in the following areas: Patient Care,<br />

Education, Research <strong>and</strong> Child Advocacy.<br />

DOP continues to work towards being a cohesive academic <strong>and</strong> professional body committed to the advancement of betterment of child<br />

health care through the delivery of exemplary patient care, teaching <strong>and</strong> research. DOP core facilities support development of a broad<br />

range of basic <strong>and</strong> clinical research initiatives. Infection <strong>and</strong> immunity is a particular strength with an outst<strong>and</strong>ing research program that<br />

spans transplantation to immunization.<br />

DOP Paediatric Oncology Research Program is an area of strength with major donor commitments. Underst<strong>and</strong>ing influences on early<br />

development <strong>and</strong> the interface between biology, behaviour <strong>and</strong> the environment is an area of strength. Epigenetics is a developing major<br />

area of research that is shared by numerous divisions.<br />

DOP <strong>Clinical</strong> Research Support Unit (CRSU) supports academic research in the domains of clinical, health services <strong>and</strong> population<br />

health <strong>and</strong> works with the divisions to improve the organization <strong>and</strong> delivery of quality health care <strong>and</strong> to promote patients’ safety. DOP<br />

leads a national network aimed at identifying the genomic profile of patients who develop serious drug related events.<br />
