INTRODUCTION TO HANDBOOK<br />

This Handbook is designed to help employees get acquainted with <strong>ARISE</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

(hereinafter referred to as "<strong>ARISE</strong>" or "<strong>School</strong>"). It explains some of our philosophies and<br />

beliefs, and describes in general terms, some of our employment guidelines. This<br />

Handbook serves as our official policies and procedures manual, and we hope that it will<br />

serve as a useful reference document for employees throughout their employment at the<br />

<strong>School</strong>. Employees should understand, however, that this Handbook is not intended to be a<br />

contract (expressed or implied), nor is it intended to otherwise create any legally<br />

enforceable obligations on the part of the <strong>School</strong> or its employees. In no way does the<br />

Handbook replace the official plan documents (i.e., health insurance, retirement plan, etc.)<br />

or insurance contracts, which will govern in all cases. This Handbook supersedes and<br />

replaces all previous personnel policies, practices, and guidelines.<br />

<strong>ARISE</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> will always exercise the necessary rights, authority, duties and<br />

responsibilities as stated in the Charter. The adoption of policies, rules, regulations, and<br />

practices shall always follow both the spirit and letter of the law of .the State of California<br />

and the Charter of the school. This handbook is a "living document" that will be modified<br />

as circumstances change. <strong>ARISE</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> full discretion to add to, modify, or delete<br />

provisions of this Handbook, or the policies and procedures on which they may be based,<br />

at any time without advance notice. The <strong>School</strong> also reserves the right to interpret any of<br />

the provisions set forth in this Handbook in any manner it deems appropriate. Please do<br />

not hesitate to contact the Directors of the school with questions regarding the charter or its<br />

policies.<br />

No individual other than the Director or Board of Directors has the authority to enter into<br />

any employment or other agreement that modifies <strong>School</strong> policy. Any such modification<br />

must be in writing.<br />

This Handbook is the property of the <strong>School</strong> and it is intended for personal use and<br />

reference by employees of the <strong>School</strong>. Circulation of this Handbook outside of the <strong>School</strong><br />

requires the prior written approval of one of the Directors.<br />

Employees should sign the acknowledgement form at the back of this Handbook, tear it<br />

out, and return it to the Director or Supervisor. This will provide the <strong>School</strong> with a record<br />

that each employee has received this Handbook.<br />

PURPOSE OF THIS HANDBOOK<br />

This Handbook is intended to assist employees in becoming acquainted with <strong>ARISE</strong>. It<br />

explains our employment guidelines. We hope that it serves as a useful reference document<br />

for employees throughout their employment at <strong>ARISE</strong>. The Handbook neither implies nor<br />

establishes a contract between <strong>ARISE</strong> and the employee. It is provided for your use as a<br />
