12. Acts of discrimination or illegal harassment based on gender, ethnicity, or any<br />

other basis protected by state or federal law.<br />

13. Failure to comply with the <strong>School</strong>'s safety procedures.<br />

14. Insubordination.<br />

15. Failure to follow any known policy or procedure of <strong>ARISE</strong>, or gross negligence,<br />

which results in a loss to <strong>ARISE</strong>.<br />

16. Violations of federal, state, or local laws affecting the organization or your<br />

employment with the organization.<br />

17. Unacceptable job performance.<br />

18. Dishonesty.<br />

NON-DISCLOSURE OF PERSONNEL INFORMATION<br />

Reasons for involuntary terminations are privileged information and are treated<br />

confidentially. Anyone disclosing such information inappropriately is subject to<br />

disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.<br />

No one without a managerial "need to know" is to discuss personnel information.<br />

Inquiries regarding an employee who has been terminated should be referred to the <strong>School</strong><br />

Director(s), or designee.<br />

RESIGNATION-AT WILL EMPLOYEES<br />

At-will employees are free to resign without repercussion or retaliation unless their<br />

employment agreement states otherwise. Although <strong>ARISE</strong> does not require two (2) weeks<br />

notice from a resigning at-will employee, as <strong>ARISE</strong> employees are at-will unless otherwise<br />

agreed, <strong>ARISE</strong> would appreciate such notice. However, <strong>ARISE</strong> may ask an employee to<br />

leave immediately when necessary. Any accrued and unpaid compensation, excluding sick<br />

or personal leave benefits, shall be paid as soon as possible as required under the law or on<br />

the next payroll run.<br />

RETIREMENT<br />

Retirement at age 65 is not compulsory. An employee who wishes may retire (or take<br />

semi-retirement). The employee may work part time to equal what Social Security will<br />

allow. All other taxes including Social Security will be deducted from salary according to<br />

federal and state tax laws.<br />

LAYOFF<br />

While <strong>ARISE</strong> will endeavor to avoid layoffs, it must reserve the right to initiate layoffs if it<br />

determines that such action is warranted based on economic circumstances or other factors<br />

that it deems important. It is the policy of <strong>ARISE</strong> to reduce staff on a non-discriminatory<br />
