• Civil Disturbance:<br />
A civil disturbance is any situation where a person or group of persons disrupts<br />
operations or threatens the safety of individuals. The following precautionary<br />
protective measures should be taken:<br />
1. Notify local law enforcement authorities-Dial 911.<br />
2. If participants enter the building, remain calm and do not provoke<br />
aggression. Report disruptive circumstances to school Principal, or<br />
his/her designee.<br />
3. Do not argue with participant(s).<br />
4. Have all students and employees leave the immediate area of<br />
disturbance.<br />
5. If the disturbance is outside the building, remain inside building, unless<br />
instructed otherwise by the <strong>School</strong> Principal or police officials. Lock all<br />
doors. Stay away from windows and exterior doors.<br />
6. If the disturbance is inside the building, follow procedures for evacuation<br />
of the school site.<br />
7. Follow further instructions as police officials and other local law<br />
enforcement authorities issue them.<br />
8. Draft incident report for <strong>School</strong> Principal, or his/her designee.<br />
• Vandalism:<br />
The following procedures should be used in the case of school vandalism:<br />
1. Notify school principal, or his/her designee.<br />
2. Notify building and ground maintenance personnel.<br />
3. The <strong>School</strong> Principal, or his/her designee, will assess the seriousness<br />
of the situation and determine the level of assistance needed, including<br />
local law enforcement.<br />
4. If possible, identify the parties involved.<br />
5. Interview witnesses and obtain written statements.<br />
6. Document the incident as soon as possible and give the incident<br />
report, with any witness statements, to the <strong>School</strong> Principal or his/her<br />
designee.<br />
7. Notify parents or legal guardian.<br />
8. Determine what disciplinary measures are appropriate (in-house or<br />
police involvement).<br />
9. Determine any monetary restitution issues and amounts.<br />
