Qualifications of <strong>School</strong> Employees<br />
<strong>ARISE</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> shall meet all requirements for employment set forth in applicable<br />
provisions of law. All staff will be required to have TB tests, be fingerprinted, and have<br />
background checks conducted before employment. Staff must be re-screened for<br />
tuberculosis every four years.<br />
ADMINISTRATOR QUALIFICATIONS:<br />
Administrators at the <strong>ARISE</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> should possess leadership abilities, a<br />
comprehensive portfolio that clearly demonstrates success in leadership, a<br />
comprehensive educational vision that is consistent with the school's mission and<br />
educational program, and skill in hiring and supervising certificated and classified staff,<br />
The minimum criteria for administrators include having:<br />
• a California Administrative Credential or similar experience/educational<br />
background;<br />
• evidence of educational leadership<br />
• positive references from immediate and past employers<br />
• knowledge of the state accountability system in California<br />
• human relations skills necessary for creating a collaborative and spirited<br />
school culture focused on raising student achievement.<br />
TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:<br />
The <strong>ARISE</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> plans to hire the best teachers available. Our staff will ideally<br />
have a wide range of expertise and experience, particularly in project-based learning,<br />
ideally in an expeditionary learning environment. Our expectation is that we have<br />
teachers who believe our children can meet rigorous academic expectations and will<br />
hold them to high standards. Furthermore, they must be willing to commit to<br />
professional development, which will be ongoing and consistent throughout the<br />
academic year.<br />
All core teachers (Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts) at the <strong>ARISE</strong> <strong>High</strong><br />
<strong>School</strong> will:<br />
• hold a California teaching credential, permit, or other document equivalent to that<br />
which a teacher in other public schools would be required to hold. (Ed.Code.<br />
47605 (1))<br />
• Will demonstrate proficiency in the subject they will teach.<br />
• Have previous experiences working with the types of students who will attend the<br />
<strong>ARISE</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>.<br />
• Make an investment in the school's philosophy, vision, and pedagogy.<br />
