2. Isolate the parties involved for interview/investigation.<br />

3. Notify parent or legal guardian.<br />

4. Obtain witness statements and document in a written incident report.<br />

5. Determine disciplinary consequences.<br />

6. Determine what intervention or follow-up procedures are necessary<br />

including counseling.<br />

IV. Child Abuse Reporting<br />

Child abuse shall be reported in compliance with the procedures set forth in the<br />

school's Employee Handbook and in accordance with California law. The<br />

reporting of suspected child abuse is mandatory.<br />

V. Campus "Coming and Going"<br />

Visitors and guests are welcome at the school. However, to safeguard students<br />

and staff, reasonable precautions should be taken.<br />

Visitors should:<br />

1. Always report and sign in at the office.<br />

2. Be provided with a visitor's badge.<br />

3. Be prepared to provide identification to school personnel.<br />

4. Respect school rules.<br />

<strong>School</strong> personnel should:<br />

1. Insure all exterior doors are marked with a notice to visitors to first report<br />

to the office.<br />

2. Exterior doors should remain locked, except doors near the office area.<br />

3. Staff should receive training on how to greet visitors. The first question is<br />

"May I help you?"<br />

4. Someone should greet every visitor.<br />

5. Any intruder found roaming the building should be escorted to the office.<br />

Someone can then provide any additional information or directions.<br />

(NOTE: An intruder is anyone without a visitor's badge or lacking visible<br />

identification stating who they are, i.e., school employee)<br />

Visitors who fail to comply with school procedures:<br />

1. Should verbally be informed they are in violation of school policy.<br />

(Example - "Sir, you must report to the office immediately. If you fail to do<br />

so, you will be considered a trespasser, and school security will be<br />

called.")<br />
