Mpamujugu, contributes 97 million m3/yr. The area <strong>of</strong> the lake has been<br />

shrinking over the years. The lake had an area <strong>of</strong> 164 km2 in 1990 and<br />

by 2000 the area had reduced to 87 km2 which is 50% reduction. The fish<br />

catch from Lake Wamala has declined since the lake was stocked in 1956<br />

and opened to fishing during the 1960s. <strong>Changing</strong> levels <strong>of</strong> the lake is a<br />

function <strong>of</strong> rainfall and not as a result <strong>of</strong> other environmental causes.<br />
