Purpose:<br />
State legislation requires Health Departments that were created by resolution to create a health<br />
advisory committee that is made of health professional for the purpose of advising the <strong>County</strong>’s<br />
Board of Health. They provide expert knowledge and advice to the Board of Health and the<br />
Health Department regarding public health policies and issues along with advice on strategic<br />
initiatives related to public health. The Health Advisory Committee is chaired by the Executive<br />
Director for the Health Department (Barb Jeffers)<br />
Summary<br />
A minimum of 5 members (currently there are 8 members), appointed by the <strong>Kane</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />
Board Chairman with the advice and consent of the <strong>Kane</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board. All appointments have<br />
residency requirements. Each member serves a 3 year term and serves until a successor is<br />
appointed.<br />
Governing <strong>County</strong> Code: Section 11.5-12 Board of Health Advisory Committee<br />
State statue requirements that you have at least one physician licensed in Illinois to practice<br />
medicine in all its branches, at least one shall be a dentist licensed in Illinois, and one shall be a<br />
nurse licensed in Illinois.<br />
