To admit a new patient, you must have Administrative | New
Patient | Modify security rights.
To open the Diagnoses and Interventions window, you must
have Clinical | General | View security rights.
To add a diagnosis, you must have Clinical | Diag/Staging |
Modify security rights.
To affirm a diagnosis, you must have Clinical | Diag/Staging
| Approve security rights.
To add a basic course/care plan, you must have Clinical |
Care Plans | Modify security rights.
To add or change a basic radiation prescription, you must
have Clinical | Prescription | Modify security rights.
To add dose action points, you must have Clinical | Action
Points | Modify security rights.
Adding Diagnosis and Staging Information
eCHART has the Diagnosis and Staging window, which lets you add diagnosis and
staging information as recommended by the AJCC. The information in the window
includes the data set recommended by JCAHO for accreditation of a cancer program.
It also includes the patient diagnosis (ICD-O code set) and the tumor stage by AJCC
standards. It is also important to record the consult date, diagnosis category (also, the
specific diagnosis if you know it), and treatment objective for reporting purposes. In
the following exercises, you will open the Diagnosis and Staging window, add
diagnosis information, and affirm a diagnosis.
Refer to Using Diagnosis and Staging, LPNMED0010, for
more information on how to stage a cancer diagnosis or add
tumor information.
Opening the Diagnosis and Staging Window
You can open the Diagnosis and Staging window from the Diagnosis and Problem
List dialog box through the Diagnoses and Interventions window. You can also open
it from the Diagnosis and Problem List pane in the Chart view. In this exercise, you
will open the Diagnosis and Staging window from the Diagnoses and Interventions
window.
1. Quick-register a new patient and add a patient ID and an attending physician.
2. Open the chart for your lesson patient, if necessary.
