The Faculty holds the third place in the CENSIS Servizi s. p. a. 2009 (Italian university ranking). In
this ranking 22 universities were examined according to the quality of their didactics, productivity,
research and internationality.
Study programme structure:
Bachelor (3 years) - Laurea Triennale in Scienze dell’Architettura
Master (2 years) - Laurea specialistica in Architettur
The Faculty of Architecture invites 150 students into each year.
As is common in Italy, projects consist of various modules which cover a range of disciplines. For
ease of assessment, they are all listed under ‘design studio’.
In Italy, the Faculty of Preservation of Historic Buildings traditionally does not offer its own design
projects, yet students can find a range of projects with an element of preservation to them (such as
building in existing context). These projects are also listed under ‘design studio’.

Within assessment III Credits are divided up amongst the different architectural departments. The
same optional courses are offered for Bachelor and Master students.
In Each design studio (Laboratorio) are approximately 50 students enrolled. As is the norm throughout
Italy, the university provides study halls (Laboratorio) for all students. Students don’t have
fixed work desks; they rather work within open plan spaces where each student can bring his own
laptop.
Each project module can be chosen and attended individually, yet students are advised to choose
the whole block.
Projects consist of a theoretical (lecture) and a practical part, both of which are compulsory.
Students are required to work 8 hours per week within the study halls. During this time the professor
and various assistants are present to offer advice.
