Comparison between the Spanish credits and the ECTS credits: Ratio 410/300 ECTS-Credits
Study programme structure:
Study programme 1: 2 years. After completion of the first two years the students may transfer to
another study concentration (usually engineering)

‘Numerus Clausus’ (Restricted Admission): Grade average of the previous year was 7.74 (10 in
the Spanish grading system equates to a 1 in the German system). The ratio of Spanish Credits to
ECTS Credits is 410/300.

The Universidad de Alicante has, for example, a faculty for the humanities. The optional course
offer therefore also includes languages. The upper limit of optional courses taken in other faculties
whose Credit points can be added to the student’s total lies at 20%.
Due to the implementation of the Bologna system and changements of the existing study
programmes into Bachelor and Master, the ECTS- Credits of Assessment III do not match the listed

The lecturer-student ratio is 1:20. Theoretical classes are not offered, however, conferences
„talleres paralelos“ occasionally take place. The lecturers are usually present between 1 and 6
days per week.
The urban design studio is run in an annual cycle and is accompanied by design instruction.
The first part of the course includes an analysis; the second part primarily consists of the actual
design. This second part deals with urban design interventions and the subject of “housing”. The
breakdown is as follows: 30% analysis, 60% urban landscape and 10% housing.
The final project includes following aspects: design, construction, structural and installation
calculation, measurement and cost calculation. The 3 Credits received by the student for this work
does not, in any way, represent the actual scope of the one year long design studio.
