BACHELOR
Year 1: Course block 1 - 60 Credits. (cycle propédeutique)
Year 2 and 3: Course block 2 - 120 Credits. (cycle bachelor)
MASTER
As a student one can choose to complete either a 90 Credit or a 120 Credit master. For this purpose
there is an additional subject block, the so called “Mineur” (30 Credits), that can be taken if
the student desires. In this way students can add a specific focus to their studies. The university of
Lausanne places high importance on its flexible and interdisciplinary course offer. Many courses
are taught in English. The language centre offers free English courses for all levels.
Final Master project (Projet de Master en architecture)
The final project is a research project, the subject of which is determined by the student and which
pertains to the study programme. The project lasts between 4 and 6 months and is carried out as
part of a research project in the EPFL laboratory, at another university or in a private company.
SHS – Sciences humaines et sociales (Social sciences):
These are courses that are specially designed to integrate into a multi-layered society and
environment. They are divided into 5 main areas: culture and civilization, society and individuals,
production systems, art and aesthetics, knowledge and reflexivity.
“Projeter ensemble‘‘:
There are combined courses in construction engineering, architecture, and environmental sciences.
The goal of this project is to provide engineers and architects with the skills to design and work
together.
Énoncé théorique de Master:
The students describe the theme of their Master project, their research goals, a rough bibliography,
as well as the first hypothesis of their work.
