The Faculty holds third place in the CENSIS Servizi s. p. a. 2009 (Italian university ranking). In
this ranking 22 universities were examined according to their quality of didactics, productivity and
internationality.
Study programme structure:
Bachelor (3 years- 180 Credits) : Laurea Triennale in Scienze dell’Architettura
Master (2 years - 120 Credits) : Laurea specialistica in Architettura
Master in project management (1 year - 6 credits) – Master Universitario di I Livello. This
specialization course is offered to students holding a Lauera (Diplom) or Master degree.
There are150 students are enrolled per year in the faculty of architecture.
CDL = Corso di Laurea (Bachelor of Science)
LM = Laurea Magistrale (Master of Science)
The design studios are composed of numerous modules of different topics. Because these are
difficult to break-down into components, they are included in the category (below) “Design Studio”.
Different from the other Italian faculties, the faculty of Architecture at the University of Triest offers
a number of historic preservation design classes. These too are included in the „Design Studio“
section.

In Assessment III, design studio Credits are divided according to disciplines. The required optional
course offer is the same for both bachelor and master study programmes.
Design Project: There are about 50 students in every design studio. As is generally the case in Italian
universities, working spaces (Laboratori) for the students are provided by the university.
The students, however, do not have a fixed working spaces. Usually there is a large
Aula to which students can bring their laptops.

The design studios are one semester long, with exception of the first design studio which spans the
entire year and is only offered in Gorizia (60 km north of Triest).
Each design studio module can stand alone and can be taken separately. It is however recommended
to take these modules as a block.
The studios have a theoretical part (lecture) and a practical part, to which attendance is required.
The students‘ presence in the working spaces is required for 8 hours a week. During this time the
responsible Professor as well as two assistants are present.
