Mr. Doyle. I th<strong>in</strong>k, Witness, you mentioned you had not been<br />

here yesterday at <strong>the</strong> hear<strong>in</strong>gs. Is that correct? Or were you here?<br />

Mrs. Freed. I was, sir.<br />

Mr. Doyle. And you heard me read that <strong>the</strong> subject of this <strong>in</strong>quiry<br />

is <strong>the</strong> extent of <strong>Communist</strong> <strong>in</strong>filtration <strong>in</strong>to <strong>peace</strong> organizations. You<br />

heard that read yesterday; and, of course, <strong>the</strong>re<strong>for</strong>e under our claim,<br />

<strong>the</strong>se questions that we have been ask<strong>in</strong>g you are pert<strong>in</strong>ent to this<br />

<strong>in</strong>vestigation.<br />
