met <strong>in</strong> executive session at 2:45 p.m., <strong>in</strong> Room 219, Cannon House<br />

Office Build<strong>in</strong>g, Wash<strong>in</strong>gton, D.C., Hon. Clyde Doyle (chairman of<br />

<strong>the</strong> subcommittee) presid<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Subcommittee members present: Representatives Clyde Doyle, of<br />

Cali<strong>for</strong>nia, and William M. Tuck, of Virg<strong>in</strong>ia.<br />

Staff members present: Francis J. McNamara, director; Frank S,<br />

Tavenner, Jr., general counsel; Alfred M. Nittle, counsel; and Raymond<br />

T. Coll<strong>in</strong>s, <strong>in</strong>vestigator.<br />

Mr. Doyle. Mrs. Neidenberg, will you please raise your right<br />

hand and be sworn. Do you solemnly swear you will tell <strong>the</strong> truth,<br />

Mr. NiTTLE. Would you state your full name and residence <strong>for</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> record, please?<br />

Mrs. Neidenberg. Elsie Neidenberg, 250 Central Avenue, Lawrence,<br />

Long Island, New York.<br />

Mr. Nittle. Have you at any time previously resided at 389 Mulry<br />

Lane, Hempstead, Long Island?<br />

Mrs. Neidenberg. I never resided <strong>in</strong> Hempstead.<br />

Mr. Nittle. Have you resided <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> area of Long Island?<br />

Mrs. Neidenberg. Yes, I have.<br />

Mr. Nittle. Where <strong>in</strong> Long Island did you reside and would you<br />

state <strong>the</strong> time or period of your residence?<br />

Mrs. Neidenberg. Well, possibly I could clarify someth<strong>in</strong>g so we<br />

won't have to go <strong>in</strong>to this. Mulry Lane happens to be <strong>in</strong> Lawrence,<br />

also, and I did live at 389 Mulry Lane. It was not <strong>in</strong> Hempstead.<br />

I mean I feel we go through a lot of questions which may just not get<br />

us anywhere on this.<br />

Mr. Nittle. That was Mulry Lane, Lawrence, Long Island?<br />

Mrs. Neidenberg. That's right.<br />

Mr. Nittle. Would you state <strong>the</strong> date and place of your birth?<br />

Mrs. Neidenberg. I was born <strong>in</strong> Moscow, Russia, February 2,<br />

1918.<br />
