It would appear from that, Mrs. Posner, that you have volunteered<br />

many hours and many days of work <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> New York office of <strong>Women</strong><br />

<strong>Strike</strong> <strong>for</strong> Peace.<br />

Have you done this upon <strong>the</strong> request or on orders of any person<br />

known to you to be a member of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Communist</strong> Party?<br />

Mrs. Posner. Fifth amendment.<br />

Mr. NiTTLE. The article states that your files <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Women</strong><br />

<strong>Strike</strong> <strong>for</strong> Peace conta<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> names of 6,000 local adherents.<br />

From whom did you obta<strong>in</strong> this list of persons?<br />

Mrs. Posner. I stand on my constitutional rights and <strong>in</strong>voke<br />

still aga<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> fifth amendment.<br />

Mr. NiTTLE. Did you receive any list<strong>in</strong>gs from any person or persons<br />

known to you to be a member of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Communist</strong> Party?<br />

Mrs. Posner. The fifth amendment.<br />

Mr. NiTTLE. Did you receive list<strong>in</strong>gs from any organization<br />

known to you to be <strong>Communist</strong>-controlled, or designated as subversive<br />

or <strong>Communist</strong> by <strong>the</strong> Attorney General or by any o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

official agency of Government?<br />

Mrs. Posner. I stand on <strong>the</strong> fifth.<br />

Mr. NiTTLE. Did you obta<strong>in</strong> any of <strong>the</strong> 6,000 names which are<br />

reported to be <strong>in</strong> your files from Mrs. Dagmar Wilson or her Wash<strong>in</strong>gton<br />

office?<br />

Mrs. Posner. I stand on <strong>the</strong> fifth.<br />

Mr. NiTTLE. As office chairman, Exhibit 1 states your duties to<br />

be that of typ<strong>in</strong>g, mimeograph<strong>in</strong>g, fil<strong>in</strong>g, tak<strong>in</strong>g m<strong>in</strong>utes of meet<strong>in</strong>gs,<br />

and so <strong>for</strong>th.<br />

I assume that you have had access to all of <strong>the</strong> records <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> headquarters<br />

of <strong>Women</strong> <strong>Strike</strong> <strong>for</strong> Peace. Is that not correct?<br />

Mrs. Posner. I stand on <strong>the</strong> fifth.<br />

Mr. NiTTLE. Have you transmitted any <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation which is<br />

conta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> your files to any person or persons known to you to be<br />

a member of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Communist</strong> Party?<br />

Mrs. Posner. I stand on <strong>the</strong> fifth.<br />

Mr. NiTTLE. I hand you a photograph which is marked <strong>for</strong> identification<br />

as Posner Exhibit No. 4.<br />

This is a photograph of <strong>the</strong> picket l<strong>in</strong>e estabhshed at <strong>the</strong> White<br />

House <strong>in</strong> Wash<strong>in</strong>gton on April 28, 1962, by <strong>Women</strong> <strong>Strike</strong> <strong>for</strong> Peace.<br />

Do you not appear <strong>in</strong> that photograph as <strong>the</strong> second person <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

l<strong>in</strong>e from <strong>the</strong> right carry<strong>in</strong>g a sign, "WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO<br />

TEST"?<br />
