STRUCTURE FOR WOMEN STRIKE FOR PEACE<br />

METROPOLITAN N.Y. NEW JERSEY CONN.<br />

The structure of WOMEN STRIKE FOR PEACE shall consist of<br />

local groups from which chosen representatives <strong>the</strong>n <strong>for</strong>m county<br />

groups; from which aga<strong>in</strong> chosen representatives <strong>for</strong>m <strong>the</strong> Central<br />

Coord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g Committee.<br />

A local group shall consist of any body of women who have<br />

meet<strong>in</strong>gs and act <strong>in</strong> concert <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> general purpose of <strong>peace</strong>.<br />

Each such group will be listed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> N.Y. office with <strong>the</strong> names<br />

of two active persons. (This list of names, addresses and telephone<br />

numbers will be available only <strong>for</strong> WSP <strong>activities</strong> and<br />

mail<strong>in</strong>gs and are not to be open to any o<strong>the</strong>r group) . Local<br />

groups should hold at least one meet<strong>in</strong>g a month and send a report<br />

of that meet<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> Central office. Each group may send<br />

2 delegates to its county meet<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

A county group is composed of delegates represent<strong>in</strong>g each<br />

local group <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> area. This group should report, evaluate and<br />

coord<strong>in</strong>ate community <strong>activities</strong>, implement county actions and appo<strong>in</strong>t<br />

representatives to <strong>the</strong> Central Coord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g Committee.<br />

County groups should meet at least once a month, preferably immediately<br />

follow<strong>in</strong>g a C.C.C. meet<strong>in</strong>g. Local groups should <strong>the</strong>n<br />

hold <strong>the</strong>ir meet<strong>in</strong>gs immediately follow<strong>in</strong>g County meet<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

The Central Coord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g Committee , <strong>the</strong>n, is composed of<br />

two representatives from each County or State (Manhattan, Brooklyn,<br />

Bronx, Queens, Westchester, Long Island, Connecticut sjid<br />

New Jersey) plus one representative from each Work Committee<br />

(see below) plus <strong>the</strong> N.Y. Office Coord<strong>in</strong>ator. All of <strong>the</strong>se representatives<br />

have one vote each. An alternate should be elected<br />

by each area and work committee to represent her group <strong>in</strong> case<br />

one of <strong>the</strong> representatives cannot attend a meet<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

County representatives on <strong>the</strong> C.C.C. should be delegated<br />

<strong>for</strong> a term of two months and may serve as many terms as <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

county elects. Representatives from work committees should be<br />

delegated by <strong>the</strong>ir own committee ajid shall serve not less than<br />

two months nor more than six months.<br />

The C.C.C. will meet regularly twice a month, and may convene<br />

<strong>the</strong>mselves <strong>for</strong> emergency meet<strong>in</strong>gs. They will send m<strong>in</strong>utes<br />

of each meet<strong>in</strong>g to every local group. A count of 15 women shall<br />

be deemed a quorum.<br />

The C.C.C. will base its work on <strong>the</strong> written reports which<br />

have been sent <strong>in</strong> by <strong>the</strong> local groups. It shall have <strong>the</strong> authority<br />

to act immediately on emergency policy decisions. Actions<br />

shall be determ<strong>in</strong>ed by a two-thirds vote of <strong>the</strong> women<br />

present at <strong>the</strong> meet<strong>in</strong>g. It shall approve of all expenditures<br />

not exceed<strong>in</strong>g $1000. For large expenses above $1000. <strong>the</strong> C.C.C.<br />

must go back to <strong>the</strong> County groups <strong>for</strong> permission.
