Our employees are getting involved
Several hundred volunteer employees all around the world lend their support to the Group's
philanthropic work. This doesn't count all those who take part in special events organised for a
particular cause. For example, more than 500 French employees took part in the Mecenova challenges*
organised at Group sites to encourage employee involvement in solidarity projects.
*A national event to get companies and employees involved in helping associations.
On track for employment
As part of the solidarity economy, Groupe SEB supports several partners including the Envie
network, which brings together fifty or so social integration companies in France. It employs more
than 1,000 people in difficulty and helps them find lasting employment by training them to repair or
disassemble small electrical appliances at the end of their lifecycle. The restored products are sold in
the shops of the network, enabling low income households to buy low price equipment. In 2011,
Envie opened a new shop on land provided by Groupe SEB near its factory shop in Vernon.
CHINA: SUPOR SCHOOLS WELCOME 3,600 DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN
One of the key strategies of Supor's corporate philantropy policy is to develop easier access to education in the poorest
areas of China. Since 2006, the Chinese subsidiary has donated almost RMB 10 million (€1.24 million) to fund the
construction of 10 schools and the associated infrastructures (libraries, canteens etc.). In 2011, 3,600 pupils aged 6
to 15 were taught at the schools by 200 teachers. This program is run in partnership with the local authorities. As well
as financing buildings and overseeing construction work, Supor also organises training sessions for teachers and plans
to open two new schools each year.
