Solidarity also plays a role in an economic context
In addition to our corporate sponsorship work, many of our sites have economic relations
with solidarity organisations or social integration enterprises. This is the case in Brazil, for example,
where our subsidiary is a partner of an association for integrating adults with mental disabilities -
around fifty of these adults work at the Mooca site on assembly processes. In the USA, the Canonsburg
factory has been working with a similar organisation for the past 10 years, in particular for recycling
metals. The Rumilly (France) site gives its product packaging assignments to a local rehabilitation
company, which it helped to set up and which it supports by transferring skills.

SENEGAL - A DIFFERENT SOCIO-ECONOMIC APPROACH
"The AFDI* is an association from the French farming community which supports farming projects in southern
countries. We have set up a partnership with Groupe SEB on a dairy industry project in Senegal. We share the same
values of passing on expertise, innovation, authenticity and we have complementary skills - ours are in agriculture
whilst Groupe SEB has expertise in nutrition and transforming foodstuffs. Groupe SEB will in particular be involved
in the local development of milk (pasteurisation, yoghurts etc.), allowing women to generate income whilst
improving the diet of local residents. The objective is to gain a deeper understanding of local restrictions,
requirements and usage in order to come up with solutions to develop this business further."

Furthering the cause of healthy eating
The Group is involved in areas where it can help with social issues in which it has expertise,
such as nutrition and the fight against obesity. In France, for example, it has established a partnership
with Fondalim, an association in Burgundy which provides food aid, and with several social centres
in order to improve the nutrition of people in difficulty, in particular through cooking workshops and
a recipe book.
The Group is also involved in campaigns to raise awareness amongst nutritionists and dieticians in
hospitals. This was the case in 2011 in Chile's largest hospital, San Carlos de Apoquindo. With the
objective of preventing cardio-vascular disease, it has also started a vast study in France concerning
200 patients monitored by twenty or so doctors to evaluate the impact of its Nutritious & Delicious
approach on eating habits.
