Kilkenny
A series of linear features outside the northeast of the site may represent field boundaries
contemporary with the occupation of the enclosure. A corn-drying kiln (radiocarbon-dated to
A.D. 1020-1258) was built over one of these ditches, and a blue glass bead was recovered
from the ditch fill. The upper fill of this kiln contained oat, barley and wheat grains. An earlier
corn-drying kiln (radiocarbon-dated to A.D. 778-1025) was built over another ditch, and
upper fill layers of this kiln contained grains of oat, wheat, barley and rye.
There was no evidence of domestic settlement uncovered in the interior of the enclosure.
