Today, on behalf of the Gyeongnam province<br />
and its 3.2 million residents, I am very<br />
pleased to congratulate the grand opening<br />
of World Choir Championships Korea <strong>2009</strong>,<br />
which would surely turn out to be the brightest<br />
of all among this beautiful season.<br />
I woud like to express my appreciation to Governor<br />
Tae-ho Kim, President Günter Titsch<br />
of INTERKULTUR Foundation, and Chairman<br />
Yong-Jin Kim of the WCC Korean Organizing<br />
Committee, as well as everyone who are involved<br />
in the sacrificial cooperation and all<br />
the process of the organization of the event.<br />
The World Choir Championships, one of the<br />
global choral <strong>com</strong>petition which has inherited<br />
the idea of choir olympics, extends the provincial<br />
people‘s already-focused interests in<br />
the so-called "The period of South Coast" to<br />
the highest point and enhances the boundaries<br />
of choral music.<br />

the message of hope and dream to all<br />
mankind through singing, regardless of their<br />
nationality and ideology.<br />
The people of Gyeongnam are very honored<br />
to hold such a renowned choral festival in<br />
their home province, and I believe this event<br />
would serve its role as a meaningful opportunity<br />
for Gyeongnam to advance its cultural<br />
standard to a higher level.<br />
I hope all of you would enjoy the heavenly<br />
harmony that can only be created from a<br />
symphony of different voices and feel the love<br />
and impression that music brings within our<br />
soul.<br />
Finally, I want to thank all conductors, members<br />
and staffs of participating choirs and<br />
hope everyone can experience unforgettable<br />
moment during the event.<br />
Therefore, I assure that everything we can<br />
imagine of the true spirit of choral music is all<br />
gathered in this event.<br />
In particular, this World Choir Championships<br />
held in Korea is the biggest choral <strong>com</strong>petition<br />
ever in the history and offers the stage in<br />
where the best choirs from all over the world<br />
