외도보타니아
지중해의 어느 한 해변을 옮겨 놓
은 듯한 이국적인 모습의 건물과
조경으로 가꾸어져 있는 외도 보타
니아는 희귀아열대 식물을 비롯하
여 740여종이 넘는 식물들이 자라
고 있다. 한국관광공사뿐만 아니라
네티즌에 의해 한국 최고의 관광지
로 선정되기도 하였으며, KBS드라
마 “겨울연가” 의 마지막 촬영지
로 알려지면서 국내 관광객은 물론
일본 등 외국인 관광객들도 많이
찾는 곳이다
Haeinsa Temple
Located in the lower edge of Gayasan Mountain,
Haeinsa Temple is one of the three representative
temples in Korea along with
Tongdosa Temple and Songgwangsa Temple.
Especially it has been a spiritual shelter and
a spring of wisdom for Koreans for housing
the Tripitaka Koreana, the oldest production
in the world made by printing method with
eighty-thousand plates that describes of
Buddha‘s teaching. Haeinsa temple was built
as one of ten Hwaeom Temples to secure and
enhance the spiritual foundation of Hwaeom
branch in Korean Buddhism.
Upo Swamp
In Upo Swamp, the largest natural swamp of
the nation, numerous water plants and trees
can be seen dipping their body in the swamp
that have been the same since 140 millions
years ago and thus creates the atmosphere
of primitive age. A variety of plants including
bulrush, iris, reed, water oat, hair grass,

It is the aggragation of the latest technology
and leading competitive power along with the
newest facilities including the biggest crane
in the world which weighes up to 900 tons
and 1 million tons-dry dock about the area
of 8 football stadiums. It is a pride of Geoje,
standing at the peak of international shilbuilding
industry with distinguished achievement
including the 18% share of international ship
market, annual production of best ships in the
world and marking the first place for building
the biggest tanker.
Oedo Botania
Delicately decorated with exotic buildings and
architecture as if they had been transferred
from some beach at Mediterranean Sea,
Oedo Botania holds more than 740 kinds
of plants including rare tropical plants. The
place had been selected as the best tourist
spot by Korea Tourism Organization as well as
web voters. Many national and international
visitors from Japan and other countries visit
the place for its reputation as the location in
the last scene of the famous Korean TV series,
"Winter Sonata".
hornwort, arrowhead, and lotus flower is
growing in many groups within the area.
In July 26, 1997, it was declared a special
ecological preservation area and on
March 2 of the following year, it became a
conservation spot through the International
Wetland Agreement.
