동이 가져다 주는 영향력에 대해<br />
잘 알고 있기 때문에, 여러분의 제<br />
안을 열정과 책임감으로 받아들이<br />
는 바입니다. 이 조직은 음악활동<br />
과 인류의 영역에 있어 가장 훌륭<br />
한 활동을 하고 있습니다. 이 조직<br />
은 가장 높고 이상적인 형태의 음<br />
악, 즉 사람들을 화합시키고 그 무<br />
엇도 가져다 줄 수 없는 행복을 우<br />
리의 마음 속에 가져다 주는 음악<br />
을 전파하기 위해 노력하고 있습<br />
니다.<br />
음악은 우리를 더욱 인간답게 만들<br />
어주며 사랑하는 사람들 사이에서<br />
느낄 수 있는 행복의 감정을 체험<br />
하게 합니다. 음악은 상호 이해와<br />
사람들과 국가 간의 평화적 공존을<br />
기반으로 합니다. 제 생각에 이러<br />
한 상호이해와 공존은 지금 공동의<br />
노력으로 결실을 맺은 우리의 노력<br />
이 새로운 합창 음악과 계속 증대<br />
하고 있는 새로운 참가국의 숫자<br />
에 의해 풍요롭게 되고, 무엇보다<br />
도 이 조직의 독창력이 새롭고 비<br />
옥한 토지에 심어지기를 바라는 소<br />
망을 동반하고 있습니다. 부디 대<br />
회의 권위가 향상되어 보다 더 큰<br />
세계적인 메아리로 울려 퍼지기를<br />
소원합니다.<br />

Your proposal that I be<strong>com</strong>e Artistic Honorary<br />
President of the World Choir Championships<br />
fills me with great joy and pride. I accept it<br />
with enthusiasm and a sense of responsibility,<br />
since I am aware of the significant sphere<br />
of influence and the importance of this large,<br />
international organisation as well as the<br />
resonance of its activities. This organisation<br />
is involved in one of the most <strong>com</strong>mendable<br />
acts in the area of musical activity and human<br />
existence. It is working to spread music<br />
– music in its highest, most ideal form<br />
– music that unites people and peoples and<br />
generates a euphoria in our inner world like<br />
hardly anything else can.<br />
Music makes us more human and allows us<br />
to experience emotions as happy as those<br />
felt by people who love each other. It forms a<br />
basis for mutual understanding and peaceful<br />
coexistence of people and nations. These, my<br />
thoughts, are ac<strong>com</strong>panied by the wish that<br />
our efforts, which have now be<strong>com</strong>e a joint<br />
effort, will be enriched by new choral works<br />
and an ever-increasing number of new participating<br />
countries and above all, that the<br />
organisation‘s initiatives will fall on new and<br />
fertile ground. May its charisma continue to<br />
grow and its global echo ring out ever louder.<br />
