Chapter 5 Water Infrastructure
Chapter 5 WATER INFRASTRUCTURE
This chapter presents Design Standards and Guidelines (DSG) standards and guidelines for
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) water infrastructure. Standards appear as underlined text.
Facilities included here are transmission and distribution pipelines, storage tanks, standpipes,
and reservoirs. The information in this chapter should be used in conjunction with other DSG
standards. For water service connections, see DSG Chapter 17.
The primary audience for this chapter is Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) engineering staff.
Note: This DSG does not replace the experienced engineering judgment of a registered
professional engineer. All design for upgrade, repairs, and new infrastructure should be done
under the supervision of an experienced licensed engineer.
5.1 KEY TERMS
