Archbishop Tenison’s is a
thriving, Church of England,
voluntary-aided school, founded
over 300 years ago, providing a
high-quality, innovative
education for boys aged 11–16,
offering places to Church of
England families, other faiths and
no faith, and for boys and girls
aged 16+ as part of the North
Lambeth Sixth Form provision.
Our students benefit from a
challenging and stimulating curriculum
within a secure and caring learning
environment, which promotes high
expectations and positive attitudes,
and is underpinned by Christian
values. Key Stage 4 curriculum
begins in Year 9 and we expect some
of our students to take a number of
GCSEs in Year 10, allowing them to
commence Sixth Form studies in Year
11. We offer a rich and diverse
curriculum, which includes a wide
variety of subjects such as Latin,
Mandarin, photography and creative
thinking. Our team of highly qualified
and dedicated teachers encourage
the individual talents and skills of all
our students and ensure that
everybody has the opportunity to
achieve success.
We offer bursaries to any child who
has gained Grade 1 and is working
towards Grade 2 in Music. Academic
bursaries are also offered to students
in the Sixth Form.
The school was recognised in
January 2012 by Ofsted that “The
protective ethos, excellent tracking
and supportive systems, both
pastoral and academic, have led to
the overwhelming majority of parents
and carers saying they are kept well
informed, and their sons are happy
and safe.”
In 2011, our overall GCSE results
showed 82% of students gaining
5 or more grades A*–C, with English
and Maths 69%. Subject results
5 A*–C included:

ICT 100%
English Language 70%
English Literature 75%
Maths 86%
MFL 79%
Triple Science – Biology 100%
- Chemistry 100%
- Physics 100%
Results also continue to be
impressive at Key Stage 3.

form and supporting documents,
prospective students and their
parents or carers should read
carefully the current school
prospectus. The highest standards
of behaviour, uniform, attendance,
punctuality and consideration for
others are expected at all times. We
work in partnership with parents who
make a vital contribution to our
success. Progress is constantly
monitored and students are
rewarded for exemplary work and
positive effort. The governors of the
school have high expectations of
every student who is offered a place
and look to parents to support the
school in assisting their child to
achieve the maximum possible
benefit from the education here
