Archbishop Tenison’s is a<br />
thriv<strong>in</strong>g, Church of England,<br />
voluntary-aided school, founded<br />
over 300 years ago, provid<strong>in</strong>g a<br />
high-quality, <strong>in</strong>novative<br />
education for boys aged 11–16,<br />
offer<strong>in</strong>g places to Church of<br />
England families, o<strong>the</strong>r faiths and<br />
no faith, and for boys and girls<br />
aged 16+ as part of <strong>the</strong> North<br />
<strong>Lambeth</strong> Sixth Form provision.<br />
Our students benefit from a<br />
challeng<strong>in</strong>g and stimulat<strong>in</strong>g curriculum<br />
with<strong>in</strong> a secure and car<strong>in</strong>g learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />
environment, which promotes high<br />
expectations and positive attitudes,<br />
and is underp<strong>in</strong>ned by Christian<br />
values. Key Stage 4 curriculum<br />
beg<strong>in</strong>s <strong>in</strong> Year 9 and we expect some<br />
of our students to take a number of<br />
GCSEs <strong>in</strong> Year 10, allow<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>m to<br />
commence Sixth Form studies <strong>in</strong> Year<br />
11. We offer a rich and diverse<br />
curriculum, which <strong>in</strong>cludes a wide<br />
variety of subjects such as Lat<strong>in</strong>,<br />
Mandar<strong>in</strong>, photography and creative<br />
th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g. Our team of highly qualified<br />
and dedicated teachers encourage<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dividual talents and skills of all<br />
our students and ensure that<br />
everybody has <strong>the</strong> opportunity to<br />
achieve success.<br />
We offer bursaries to any child who<br />
has ga<strong>in</strong>ed Grade 1 and is work<strong>in</strong>g<br />
towards Grade 2 <strong>in</strong> Music. Academic<br />
bursaries are also offered to students<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Sixth Form.<br />
The school was recognised <strong>in</strong><br />
January 2012 by Ofsted that “The<br />
protective ethos, excellent track<strong>in</strong>g<br />
and supportive systems, both<br />
pastoral and academic, have led to<br />
<strong>the</strong> overwhelm<strong>in</strong>g majority of parents<br />
and carers say<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>y are kept well<br />
<strong>in</strong>formed, and <strong>the</strong>ir sons are happy<br />
and safe.”<br />
In 2011, our overall GCSE results<br />
showed 82% of students ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
5 or more grades A*–C, with English<br />

Applications<br />
Before complet<strong>in</strong>g an application<br />
form and support<strong>in</strong>g documents,<br />
prospective students and <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
parents or carers should read<br />
carefully <strong>the</strong> current school<br />
prospectus. The highest standards<br />
of behaviour, uniform, attendance,<br />
punctuality and consideration for<br />
o<strong>the</strong>rs are expected at all times. We<br />
work <strong>in</strong> partnership with parents who<br />
make a vital contribution to our<br />
success. Progress is constantly<br />
monitored and students are<br />
rewarded for exemplary work and<br />
positive effort. The governors of <strong>the</strong><br />
school have high expectations of<br />
every student who is offered a place<br />
and look to parents to support <strong>the</strong><br />
school <strong>in</strong> assist<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>ir child to<br />
