<strong>Lambeth</strong> Academy is a happy school<br />

which is ambitious for its students.<br />

This is an excit<strong>in</strong>g time to jo<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

academy:<br />

• we are recognised as one of <strong>the</strong><br />

most improved schools <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

country<br />

• we achieved an `outstand<strong>in</strong>g'<br />

OFSTED judgement for our<br />

English Department <strong>in</strong> February<br />

2012<br />

• our build<strong>in</strong>g has undergone major<br />

refurbishment to enhance our<br />

facilities for learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />

We are go<strong>in</strong>g from strength to<br />

strength and this is testament to <strong>the</strong><br />

hard work and dedication of <strong>the</strong> staff<br />

who work at <strong>Lambeth</strong> Academy.<br />

Our partnership with parents is<br />

central to this journey and we value<br />

this contribution. We strive to be<br />

open <strong>in</strong> our approach and will listen<br />

and respond. We recognise that<br />

work<strong>in</strong>g toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> best <strong>in</strong>terest<br />

of our students is <strong>the</strong> most powerful<br />

way to enable <strong>the</strong>m to achieve <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

potential.<br />

We have a rich and diverse<br />

curriculum with pathways which<br />

meet <strong>the</strong> needs of all of our<br />

students. This is supported by<br />

strong <strong>in</strong>formation and guidance as<br />

<strong>the</strong>y grow from year 6 through to<br />

university.<br />

Our students also benefit from a<br />

host of extra-curricular opportunities<br />

and experiences <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g trips<br />

abroad, sport, language clubs,<br />

drama and dance.<br />

We offer a full range of GCSE<br />

options at Key Stage 4 and a full<br />

range of AS and A2 courses <strong>in</strong><br />

our thriv<strong>in</strong>g Sixth Form Centre.<br />

In addition we offer a number of<br />

vocational qualifications. Many<br />

of our students are able to take<br />

exam<strong>in</strong>ations early if <strong>the</strong>y wish<br />

to do so.<br />

Students are supported <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

learn<strong>in</strong>g by a personal tutor and a<br />

Head of Year, both of whom will get<br />

to know <strong>the</strong>m well. They will guide<br />

<strong>the</strong>m as <strong>the</strong>y get older and will<br />

become a po<strong>in</strong>t of contact for<br />

parents. In addition, staff with<br />

particular expertise <strong>in</strong> areas such as<br />

high performance, special needs or<br />

EAL will support this learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />

process if needed.<br />

Admissions<br />

All applicants are required to take a<br />

standardised test <strong>in</strong> verbal<br />

reason<strong>in</strong>g, non-verbal reason<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

numeracy. On <strong>the</strong> basis of <strong>the</strong> results<br />

of <strong>the</strong>se tests, each applicant will be<br />

placed <strong>in</strong> one of five ability bands,<br />

with <strong>the</strong> same number of places<br />
