Admissions criteria<br />

The school exists primarily to serve<br />

<strong>the</strong> Catholic community. Admission<br />

is normally restricted to committed<br />

and practis<strong>in</strong>g baptised Catholic<br />

children who have one or both<br />

parents who are also committed,<br />

practis<strong>in</strong>g members of <strong>the</strong> Catholic<br />

church. However, <strong>the</strong> govern<strong>in</strong>g<br />

body welcomes applications from<br />

fur<strong>the</strong>r afield and, subject to <strong>the</strong><br />

availability of places, from parents of<br />

children of o<strong>the</strong>r denom<strong>in</strong>ations and<br />

faiths who support <strong>the</strong> religious<br />

ethos of <strong>the</strong> school.<br />

Where applications exceed <strong>the</strong><br />

number of places available, <strong>the</strong><br />

governors will apply <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />

criteria of selection <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> order set<br />

out below, to decide which boys and<br />

girls should be admitted.<br />

1 Looked after baptised Catholic<br />

children or looked after children <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> care of Catholic families and<br />

previously looked after Catholic<br />

children who have been adopted or<br />

who have become <strong>the</strong> subject of a<br />

residence or guardianship order.<br />

2 Committed and practis<strong>in</strong>g<br />

baptised Catholic children of a<br />

committed and practis<strong>in</strong>g Catholic<br />

parent or committed and practis<strong>in</strong>g<br />

baptised children and <strong>the</strong>ir parent<br />

who are members of <strong>the</strong> Oriental<br />

Rite Churches <strong>in</strong> union with Rome<br />

or <strong>the</strong> Ord<strong>in</strong>ariate.<br />

3 Baptised Catholic children who<br />

<strong>the</strong>mselves are committed and<br />

practis<strong>in</strong>g but whose parent may not<br />

be a practis<strong>in</strong>g Catholic at <strong>the</strong> time<br />

of admission or committed and<br />

practis<strong>in</strong>g baptised children who are<br />

members of <strong>the</strong> Oriental Rite<br />

Churches <strong>in</strong> union with Rome or <strong>the</strong><br />

Ord<strong>in</strong>ariate but whose parent may<br />

not be practis<strong>in</strong>g at <strong>the</strong> time of<br />

admission.<br />

4 Children enrolled <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

catechumenate. Evidence of<br />

enrolment <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> catechumenate will<br />

be required.<br />

5 Looked after children not <strong>in</strong><br />

Category 1 and previously looked<br />

after children who have been<br />

adopted or who have become <strong>the</strong><br />

subject of a residence or<br />

guardianship order.<br />

6 Children who are members of<br />

Eastern Orthodox Churches.<br />

Evidence of Baptism will be required.<br />

7 Children of families who are<br />

members of o<strong>the</strong>r Christian<br />

denom<strong>in</strong>ations that are part of<br />

Churches Toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong> England.<br />
