Medical and/or social reasons:<br />
applicants must provide at least two<br />
pieces of written evidence of<br />
professional support which should<br />
be submitted, with <strong>the</strong><br />
supplementary <strong>in</strong>formation form,<br />
direct to <strong>the</strong> school before <strong>the</strong><br />
clos<strong>in</strong>g date. Applications must set<br />
out <strong>the</strong> particular reasons why<br />
Dunraven School is <strong>the</strong> most<br />
suitable school and what difficulties<br />
would occur if <strong>the</strong> child had to go<br />
elsewhere. Any such applications will<br />
be considered objectively by <strong>the</strong><br />
admissions committee of <strong>the</strong> school<br />
based on <strong>the</strong> evidence provided.<br />
Geography: proximity of <strong>the</strong> child’s<br />
home to <strong>the</strong> school, measured us<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>the</strong> shortest walk<strong>in</strong>g route, lit by<br />
street light<strong>in</strong>g, from <strong>the</strong> front door of<br />
<strong>the</strong> home address (as identified by<br />
<strong>the</strong> mapp<strong>in</strong>g software) to <strong>the</strong> student<br />
entrance of Dunraven Lower School<br />
<strong>in</strong> Mount Nod Road, with those liv<strong>in</strong>g<br />
nearest accorded <strong>the</strong> highest priority.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> eventuality of <strong>in</strong>sufficient<br />
applicants for places <strong>in</strong> any band,<br />
unfilled places will be offered to <strong>the</strong><br />

Appeal arrangements<br />
Unsuccessful applicants will have <strong>the</strong><br />
right to appeal aga<strong>in</strong>st <strong>the</strong> decision<br />
to an Independent Admissions<br />
Appeals Panel established under <strong>the</strong><br />
School Standards and Framework<br />
Act 1998. The school has established<br />
arrangements for appeal aga<strong>in</strong>st<br />
non-admission which <strong>in</strong>clude an<br />

Sixth form – shar<strong>in</strong>g excellence<br />
Dunraven has a thriv<strong>in</strong>g sixth form<br />
rated as ‘outstand<strong>in</strong>g’ by Ofsted <strong>in</strong><br />
2009 “with major strengths <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
excellent relationships and very<br />
effective support systems”. We offer<br />
a sixth form experience which is<br />
challeng<strong>in</strong>g, varied, <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
reward<strong>in</strong>g. As part of <strong>the</strong> South<br />
London Sixth (SL6) collaboration,<br />
our close l<strong>in</strong>ks with Bishop Thomas<br />
Grant, The Elmgreen School, La<br />
Retraite and St Mart<strong>in</strong>-<strong>in</strong>-<strong>the</strong>-Fields<br />
enable us to offer an extended range<br />
of subjects and enrichment activities.<br />
As <strong>the</strong> largest and most successful<br />
sixth form <strong>in</strong> <strong>Lambeth</strong>, SL6 has <strong>the</strong><br />
scale needed to offer a very wide<br />
range of A-Level and vocational<br />
choices, without los<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> friendly<br />
and supportive atmosphere of a<br />
smaller sixth form where students<br />

How to apply<br />
1 Applications must be made<br />
us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Common Application<br />
Form from your home borough<br />
by 31 October 2012. However,<br />
we are encourag<strong>in</strong>g applicants<br />
to submit <strong>the</strong>ir application no<br />
later than <strong>the</strong> 26 October 2012<br />
(i.e. <strong>the</strong> Friday before half<br />
term), to allow it sufficient time<br />
for process<strong>in</strong>g and check<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
