different and you should use<br />
every opportunity to visit <strong>the</strong><br />
schools, hear what o<strong>the</strong>rs have<br />
to say about <strong>the</strong>m and read any<br />
websites and external reports<br />
that you can. What is right for<br />
one child may not be right for<br />
ano<strong>the</strong>r and it is most important<br />
that you and your child choose<br />
<strong>the</strong> school that will best meet<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir needs.<br />
Quality of education<br />
In recent <strong>in</strong>spections, <strong>the</strong> vast majority<br />

were judged ‘good’ or ‘outstand<strong>in</strong>g’.<br />
All schools <strong>in</strong> <strong>Lambeth</strong> are improv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Education provision<br />
<strong>Lambeth</strong> schools benefited from <strong>the</strong><br />
previous government’s <strong>in</strong>vestment<br />
programme ‘Build<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Schools</strong> for <strong>the</strong><br />
Future’. By September <strong>2013</strong> we will<br />
have opened three new schools, had<br />
two schools move <strong>in</strong>to new build<strong>in</strong>gs<br />
and carried out refurbishments <strong>in</strong><br />
several schools across <strong>the</strong> borough.<br />
These build<strong>in</strong>gs are designed to<br />
enable staff and pupils to work <strong>in</strong><br />
ways that reflect <strong>the</strong> new demands<br />

facilities.<br />
Specialist subject provision<br />
All <strong>Lambeth</strong> ma<strong>in</strong>stream secondary<br />
schools have at least one subject<br />
specialism. This means that <strong>the</strong>y<br />
offer a particular expert focus on a<br />
subject whilst also ensur<strong>in</strong>g that <strong>the</strong><br />
curriculum overall is well taught and<br />
resourced. <strong>Schools</strong> have listed <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
specialisms <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir admissions<br />
<strong>in</strong>formation (see pages 15–53) and<br />
you will f<strong>in</strong>d a wide range of subjects<br />
covered across <strong>the</strong> borough. If your<br />
child has a specific <strong>in</strong>terest <strong>in</strong> an<br />
area of <strong>the</strong> curriculum you can<br />
identify a school with a specialism<br />
that may suit your child as one of<br />
your preferences.<br />
<strong>Lambeth</strong> <strong>Council</strong> rema<strong>in</strong>s committed<br />
to cont<strong>in</strong>uously improv<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
deliver<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> best educational<br />
opportunities for children and young<br />
people so that <strong>the</strong>y can achieve <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
full potential and play an active and<br />
positive role <strong>in</strong> society.<br />
