different and you should use
every opportunity to visit the
schools, hear what others have
to say about them and read any
websites and external reports
that you can. What is right for
one child may not be right for
another and it is most important
that you and your child choose
the school that will best meet
their needs.
Quality of education
In recent inspections, the vast majority
were judged ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’.
Education provision
Lambeth schools benefited from the
previous government’s investment
programme ‘Building Schools for the
Future’. By September 2013 we will
have opened three new schools, had
two schools move into new buildings
and carried out refurbishments in
several schools across the borough.
These buildings are designed to
enable staff and pupils to work in
ways that reflect the new demands
facilities.
Specialist subject provision
All Lambeth mainstream secondary
schools have at least one subject
specialism. This means that they
offer a particular expert focus on a
subject whilst also ensuring that the
curriculum overall is well taught and
resourced. Schools have listed their
specialisms in their admissions
information (see pages 15–53) and
you will find a wide range of subjects
covered across the borough. If your
child has a specific interest in an
area of the curriculum you can
identify a school with a specialism
that may suit your child as one of
your preferences.
delivering the best educational
opportunities for children and young
people so that they can achieve their
full potential and play an active and
positive role in society.
