The Elmgreen School offers<br />
a ‘well designed and flexible’<br />

As <strong>the</strong> first parent promoted school<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> UK, The Elmgreen School<br />
works particularly closely with<br />
families and <strong>the</strong> local community to<br />
ensure each child benefits from a<br />
challeng<strong>in</strong>g educational experience<br />
and is cared for and developed with<strong>in</strong><br />
a ‘harmonious environment where<br />
students from a wide range of<br />
religious, ethnic and cultural<br />
backgrounds work toge<strong>the</strong>r and<br />
respect each o<strong>the</strong>r’ Ofsted 2012.<br />

The school’s creative curriculum has<br />
been developed to provide<br />
stimulat<strong>in</strong>g academic and vocational<br />
opportunities, meet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> needs of<br />
all students. Each student is<br />
encouraged to achieve personal<br />
success and fulfil <strong>the</strong>ir potential.<br />
Great importance is attached to<br />
pursu<strong>in</strong>g skills and <strong>in</strong>terests through<br />
a wide range of extension and extracurricular<br />

Ambitions<br />
Students at The Elmgreen School<br />
are encouraged to become articulate<br />
young people filled with <strong>the</strong><br />
confidence <strong>the</strong> school community<br />
and <strong>the</strong> wider community places <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong>m. They are valued and<br />
respected so <strong>the</strong>y, <strong>in</strong> turn, respect<br />
and value those around <strong>the</strong>m. They<br />
achieve highly so that <strong>the</strong>y are ‘well<br />
prepared for life <strong>in</strong> a modern and<br />
ethnically diverse society’. Students<br />
are given every opportunity to make<br />
<strong>in</strong>formed choices and take<br />
advantage of an outstand<strong>in</strong>g<br />
education, which will lead to a<br />
fulfill<strong>in</strong>g adult life. Each <strong>in</strong>dividual has<br />
a sense of <strong>the</strong>ir own achievement<br />
toge<strong>the</strong>r with a sense of belong<strong>in</strong>g to<br />

Learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />
All students benefit from a<br />
supportive primary/secondary<br />
transition programme and an<br />
enrich<strong>in</strong>g and accessible Key Stage<br />
3 curriculum. Students are organised<br />
<strong>in</strong> tutor groups and class teach<strong>in</strong>g<br />
groups designed to serve <strong>the</strong> needs<br />
of each young person, enabl<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>the</strong>m to learn at different rates and <strong>in</strong><br />
different ways. The national<br />
curriculum is followed by all students<br />
with a strong emphasis on English,<br />
Maths and Science. This is<br />
complemented by a strong<br />
Humanities offer. All students benefit<br />
from excellent ICT, music and<br />
modern foreign language provision<br />
offer<strong>in</strong>g a breadth and depth of<br />
learn<strong>in</strong>g. The <strong>14</strong>–19 curriculum offers<br />
a broad range of personalised<br />
pathways which enable maximum<br />
atta<strong>in</strong>ment. The school works <strong>in</strong><br />
close partnership with a range of<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r schools to offer a rich<br />
experience for all our students. The<br />
progress of all students is closely<br />
monitored and tracked with regular<br />
and mean<strong>in</strong>gful feedback to families.<br />
Particular support is given to those<br />
students who have specific learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />
or language needs. The <strong>Lambeth</strong><br />
<strong>Secondary</strong> Hear<strong>in</strong>g Support<br />
provision is also located at The<br />
Elmgreen School. Extend<strong>in</strong>g<br />
students through <strong>the</strong> school’s High<br />
Achiev<strong>in</strong>g, Highly Skilled programme<br />
is a priority <strong>in</strong> all curriculum areas.<br />
Students are encouraged to become<br />
<strong>in</strong>dependent 21st century learners<br />
through emphasis on personal<br />
programmes of study. Generous<br />
praise and reward underp<strong>in</strong>s <strong>the</strong><br />
work to motivate a thriv<strong>in</strong>g school<br />
community, where staff and students<br />
work purposefully toge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong> a<br />
