in the UK, The Elmgreen School
works particularly closely with
families and the local community to
ensure each child benefits from a

religious, ethnic and cultural
backgrounds work together and
respect each other’ Ofsted 2012.
This is 'The Elmgreen Way' where
students, families, staff and

that they do.
The school’s creative curriculum has
been developed to provide
stimulating academic and vocational
opportunities, meeting the needs of
all students. Each student is
encouraged to achieve personal
success and fulfil their potential.
Great importance is attached to
pursuing skills and interests through
a wide range of extension and extracurricular
activities.
Ambitions
Students at The Elmgreen School
are encouraged to become articulate
young people filled with the
confidence the school community
and the wider community places in
them. They are valued and
respected so they, in turn, respect
and value those around them. They
achieve highly so that they are ‘well
prepared for life in a modern and
ethnically diverse society’. Students
are given every opportunity to make
informed choices and take

education, which will lead to a
fulfilling adult life. Each individual has
a sense of their own achievement

a cohesive community.
Learning
All students benefit from a
supportive primary/secondary
transition programme and an
enriching and accessible Key Stage
3 curriculum. Students are organised
in tutor groups and class teaching
groups designed to serve the needs
of each young person, enabling
them to learn at different rates and in
different ways. The national
curriculum is followed by all students
with a strong emphasis on English,
Maths and Science. This is
complemented by a strong
Humanities offer. All students benefit
from excellent ICT, music and
modern foreign language provision
offering a breadth and depth of
learning. The 14–19 curriculum offers
a broad range of personalised
pathways which enable maximum
attainment. The school works in
close partnership with a range of
other schools to offer a rich
experience for all our students. The
progress of all students is closely
monitored and tracked with regular
and meaningful feedback to families.
Particular support is given to those
students who have specific learning
or language needs. The Lambeth
Secondary Hearing Support
provision is also located at The
Elmgreen School. Extending
students through the school’s High
Achieving, Highly Skilled programme
is a priority in all curriculum areas.
Students are encouraged to become
independent 21st century learners
through emphasis on personal
programmes of study. Generous
praise and reward underpins the
work to motivate a thriving school
community, where staff and students
work purposefully together in a
positive well ordered environment.
