Foundation places<br />

• The Governors have designated<br />

60% of places <strong>in</strong> each ability band<br />

each year as Foundation Places<br />

to be offered to children of regular<br />

worshipp<strong>in</strong>g members of a<br />

Christian Church.<br />

• If <strong>the</strong>re are more qualified<br />

applicants than places <strong>in</strong> any of<br />

<strong>the</strong> ability bands, places will be<br />

allocated accord<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong><br />

follow<strong>in</strong>g criteria:<br />

1. A looked after child, <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> care<br />

of <strong>the</strong> Local Authority.<br />

2. The parent(s) or carer(s) need to<br />

be regular worshipp<strong>in</strong>g members<br />

of a Christian Church. A reference<br />

will be required from <strong>the</strong> priest or<br />

m<strong>in</strong>ister of religion. Parent(s) or<br />

carer(s) will usually need to be<br />

attend<strong>in</strong>g Church at least once a<br />

fortnight and have been practis<strong>in</strong>g<br />

for at least three years.<br />

3. The presence of a sister <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

school (Years 7–11), who is liv<strong>in</strong>g<br />

at <strong>the</strong> same address, as at<br />

September <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

4. Girls with an exceptional<br />

medical or social need. This must<br />

be supported by written evidence<br />

from a specialist health<br />

professional or social worker.<br />

5. Girls whose parents have a<br />

particular wish for <strong>the</strong>ir daughter<br />

to be educated <strong>in</strong> an all-girls<br />

school. (If possible, a letter from<br />

<strong>the</strong> primary school Headteacher, a<br />

doctor or social worker should be<br />

sent with <strong>the</strong> Supplementary<br />

Form.)<br />

6. The nearness of <strong>the</strong> home to<br />

<strong>the</strong> school.<br />

• If <strong>the</strong>re are fewer qualified<br />

applicants for Foundation Places<br />

than places available <strong>in</strong> any of <strong>the</strong><br />

ability bands, <strong>the</strong> unfilled places<br />

will become additional <strong>Open</strong><br />

Places.<br />

<strong>Open</strong> places<br />

• The Governors have designated<br />

40% of places <strong>in</strong> each ability band<br />

each year as <strong>Open</strong> Places to be<br />

offered to girls who do not qualify<br />

for Foundation Places, as <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

parents are not practis<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Christians, but have chosen <strong>the</strong><br />

school for <strong>the</strong> type of education it<br />

provides.<br />

• Parents apply<strong>in</strong>g for an <strong>Open</strong><br />

Place do so know<strong>in</strong>g that <strong>the</strong><br />

school aims to provide an<br />

education based on Christian<br />

pr<strong>in</strong>ciples and <strong>the</strong>refore Governors<br />

expect that all pupils will take part<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Christian worship of <strong>the</strong><br />

school and will attend Religious<br />

Education lessons.<br />

• If <strong>the</strong>re are more qualified<br />
