This booklet guides parents/carers and their children through the admission process for September 2013. It contains guidelines on how to apply, procedures for secondary transfer, a description of each Lambeth secondary school and what they have to offer. 1 Please read carefully the admissions criteria for the schools you are interested in. 2 You should contact individual schools directly for specific information and request a copy of the school’s own prospectus. 3 Before making your application, try to attend open days/evenings to speak to staff and form your own opinion of the school’s suitability for your child. The London-wide application system means that wherever you live, you can apply for a secondary school place in up to six schools using one single form from your council. You can apply online at www.lambeth.gov.uk/eadmissions or by completing a paper Common Application Form. Whichever method you choose, your application must be received by Wednesday 31 October 2012. However, we are encouraging applicants to submit their application no later than the 19 October 2012 (i.e. the Friday before half term), to allow sufficient time for processing and checking. The council is holding two information meetings for parents/carers, which you are encouraged to attend. Details are set out on page 8. If you would like any additional assistance or advice on the secondary transfer process you may: • Telephone the Lambeth School Admissions Team on 020 7926 9503 • Visit the website at www.lambeth.gov.uk/ eadmissions • Visit the Brixton Customer Centre, Olive Morris House, 18 Brixton Hill, London SW2 1RD. The nearest London Underground station is Brixton on the Victoria Line. Apply online for your child’s secondary school place www.lambeth.gov.uk/eadmissions If your child is transferring from primary to secondary school in September 2013 and was born between 01/09/01 and 31/08/02 or taught as a Year 6 child during the 2012/13 academic year, you need to apply for a school place for them. Paper application forms are still available but many parents/carers may find it easier to apply online using the eAdmissions system. The benefits of applying online: • It is simple, safe, quick and easy to use • Your application won’t get lost in the post • Drop down school lists help reduce errors and save you time • Information can be checked online and changed at any point without the need to fill in another form • If you have any questions or problems regarding the online admissions website or process, please call the London Grid for Learning supportline on 020 8255 5555 option 4 • You will be issued with a unique reference number similar to this: 208-2013-09-E-001234, which will be your proof that your application has been received • The online system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, up until midnight on the closing date of Wednesday 31 October 2012. However, we are encouraging applicants to submit their application no later than 26 October 2012 (i.e. the Friday before half term), to allow it sufficient time for processing and checking • During the evening of Thursday 1 March 2013 you will be sent an email with the outcome of your application. Please wait until you have received the email before logging on to the Pan London eAdmissions website. In addition you will receive an email with the result of the application later that day.
