MacLeod's descent came from 13th century Norse sources, by tradition from Leod, eponymous ancestor <strong>of</strong> the MacLeods. Two <strong>of</strong><br />

the quarters on his MacLeod coat-<strong>of</strong>-arms show the three legs <strong>of</strong> Man to recall a tradition <strong>of</strong> Manx blood going back to Ragnar<br />

Lothbrok in 854.<br />

MacLeod was married three times; first to Drusilla Shaw, from Co Kildare in 1961 (divorced 1971); <strong>and</strong> secondly to Melita Kolin,<br />

from S<strong>of</strong>ia in 1973 (divorced 1993). He is survived by his third wife Ulrika, sons Hugh, who now becomes the 30th chief <strong>of</strong> MacLeod,<br />

Magnus <strong>and</strong> Stephan, <strong>and</strong> daughter Elena.<br />

James Malcolm Marcus Humphrey CBE OStJ DL FRICS MA (b. 1 May 1938) is a former Scottish politician.<br />

He was educated at Eton, <strong>and</strong> Christ Church, Oxford <strong>and</strong> on 15 October 1963, he married Sabrina Margaret Pooley. In 1969 he was<br />

admitted to the Royal Company <strong>of</strong> Archers in 1969. He was Chairman <strong>of</strong> Finance <strong>of</strong> Aberdeen County Council from 1970 to 1975,<br />

Chairman <strong>of</strong> Finance <strong>of</strong> Grampian County Council from 1974 to 1978 (<strong>and</strong> Deputy Chairman from 1978 to 1986).<br />

Originally built as a Victorian Shooting Lodge, Dinnet is now a comfortable<br />

Sir Gregor MacGregor, 6th Baronet (22 December 1925–30 March 2003) was the son <strong>of</strong> Malcolm<br />

Queen's Bodyguard for <strong>Scotl<strong>and</strong></strong>, Royal Company <strong>of</strong> Archers <strong>and</strong> a <strong>Gr<strong>and</strong></strong> Master Mason <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scotl<strong>and</strong></strong>.<br />

He was also Brigade Major, 16th Parachute Brigade <strong>and</strong> rose through the ranks to become Comm<strong>and</strong>ing Officer, 1st Battalion Scots<br />

Guards <strong>and</strong> Lt. Colonel comm<strong>and</strong>ing Scots Guards.<br />

Following a two-year spell at Fort Benning in the USA, Sir Gregor became Defence <strong>and</strong> Military Attache at the British Embassy in<br />

Athens between 1975 <strong>and</strong> 1978, before becoming Comm<strong>and</strong>er <strong>of</strong> the regiment's Lowl<strong>and</strong>s Battalion, based at Edinburgh Castle<br />

until 1980.<br />

In his civilian life he was also <strong>Gr<strong>and</strong></strong> Master Mason <strong>of</strong> <strong>Scotl<strong>and</strong></strong> 1988-93.<br />
