High Volume Air Samplers
Suspended particulate dust was measured in 2009 by a network of HVAS monitors, consisting of seven TSP
samplers and six PM 10 samplers. A data share arrangement is in place with Anglo Coal for a TSP unit at
Jerrys Plains School. The Long Point PM 10 monitor was commissioned in June 2009, consequently the 2009
average is based on 7 months data. The Long Point PM 10 is not a reportable site and is included here for
information purposes only.
TSP and PM 10 Data Recovery
The following information describes the data capture for the reporting period.
Wandewoi TSP missed three scheduled run dates due to unit operating time +/- 24 hours (17/07/2009 and
29/07/2009) and due to unit failure to run (10/08/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on 01/08/2009,
06/08/2009 and 12/08/2009. Data recovery for 2009 was 100 per cent.
Maison Dieu TSP missed 14 scheduled run dates due to unit failure (12/01/2009, 11/02/2009, 23/02/2009,
21/09/2009, 20/12/2009 and 26/12/2009), due to unit operating time +/- 24 hours (18/01/2009, 01/03/2009,
19/03/2009, 09/09/2009, 03/10/2009, 09/10/2009 and 15/10/2009) and sampling error (10/08/2009). Make-up
runs were conducted on 19/02/2009, 11/03/2009, 25/02/2009, 01/10/2009, 15/01/2010, 05/01/2010,
05/03/2009, 17/03/2009, 08/04/2009, 12/09/2009, 29/10/2009, 12/11/2009, 17/11/2009 and 23/10/2009
respectively. Data recovery for 2009 was 100 per cent.
Knodlers Lane TSP missed seven scheduled run dates due to power failure (11/02/2009 and 05/06/2009),
due to unit operating time +/- 24 hours (30/05/2009, 11/07/2009 and 22/08/2009), due to invalid data
(10/08/2009) and due to unit failure (20/12/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on 13/02/2009, 25/07/2009,
13/06/2009, 06/08/2009, 26/08/2009, 23/10/2009 and 23/12/2009. Data recovery for 2009 was 100 per cent.
Warkworth School TSP missed six scheduled run dates due to power failure (11/02/2009 and 17/06/2009),
due to unit operating time +/- 24 hours (9/10/2009, 21/10/2009 and 20/12/2009) and due to sampling error
(10/08/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on 13/02/2009, 21/06/2009, 12/11/2009, 29/10/2009, 22/12/2009
and 23/10/2009 respectively. Data recovery for 2009 was 100 per cent.
Kilburnie South TSP missed three scheduled run dates due to power failure (11/02/2009), due to invalid data
(10/08/2009) and due to unit operating time +/- 24 hours (09/09/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on
13/02/2009, 24/10/2009 and 17/09/2009 respectively. Data recovery was 100 per cent in 2009.
Cheshunt East TSP missed five scheduled run dates due to unit failure (6/01/2009), due to unit operating time
+/- 24 hours (18/01/2009 and 24/04/2009), due to invalid data (10/08/2009) and due to power failure
(26/11/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on 28/01/2009, 01/02/2009, 02/05/2009, 23/10/2009 and
28/11/2009 respectively. Data recovery for 2009 was 100 per cent.
Data capture for Jerrys Plains School TSP was provided by data share with Anglo Coal from 1 January to 31
December 2009. Data recovery for this site was 100 per cent in 2009.

time +/- 24 hours (15/09/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on 24/10/2009 and 17/09/2009. Data recovery
for 2009 was 100 per cent.

24/05/2009), due to unit operating time +/- 24 hours (18/01/2009), due to power failure (11/02/2009 and
23/02/2009) and due to sampling error (10/08/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on 28/01/2009,
25/07/2009, 2/06/2009, 4/03/2009, 5/03/2009, 25/02/2009 and 23/10/2009 respectively. Data recovery for
2009 was 100 per cent.

and due to invalid data (10/08/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on 13/02/2009, 21/06/2009 and
23/10/2009. Data recovery for 2009 was 100 per cent.

and 08/11/2009) and due to unit failure (10/08/2009). Make-up runs were conducted on 2/05/2009,
22/12/2009 and 12/08/2009 respectively. Data recovery for 2009 was 100 per cent.
