On Saturday, June 9, 2012, take in the<br />
8th annual Arts in the Park Festival in<br />
Rockglen. At Wood Mountain Regional<br />
Park, the 122nd Wood Mountain<br />
Stampede, Canada’s oldest<br />
continuous rodeo will take place from<br />
July 6-8, 2012.<br />
Several truly indulgent options await<br />
you in Moose Jaw. Choose from one of<br />
the city’s many spas – perhaps the<br />
Sahara Spa, across from beautiful<br />
Crescent Park in the historic CNR<br />
station, offering the world’s most<br />
traditional forms of spa treatments. Or<br />
try the Hibiscus Sun Spa and Boutique,<br />
Purely Pleasure Salon, Wrapture Day<br />
Spa & Salon, and the renowned Temple<br />
Gardens Mineral Spa.<br />
If you’re eager to tour the Big Muddy<br />
Badlands and explore Butch Cassidy’s<br />
Outlaw Trail, there are tours by van, or<br />
private guided tours in your own<br />
vehicle. Many of the sites are on private<br />
land and accessible only on a guided<br />
tour which leaves from Coronach.<br />
The St. Victor Petroglyphs Provincial<br />
Park contains one of <strong>Saskatchewan</strong>’s<br />
most fascinating mysteries. Located<br />
just a short drive northwest of Willow<br />
Bunch, these prehistoric carvings come<br />
from an unknown pre-contact culture.<br />
At the Sukanen Ship Pioneer Village and<br />
Museum, 8 miles south of Moose Jaw,<br />
40 acres of authentic pioneer and<br />
historical buildings and artifacts are<br />
lovingly displayed by volunteers from<br />
May to September each year. Visit the<br />
childhood homestead of John G.<br />
Diefenbaker, Canada’s 13th Prime<br />
Minister, or see the “Sontiainen”, the<br />
43-foot ship hand-built in the 1930s in<br />
the middle of the prairie by Tom<br />
Sukanen, to sail home to Finland.<br />
Other forms of transportation are<br />
commemorated in Moose Jaw at the<br />
Western Development Museum –<br />
History of Transportation. In Ogema, a<br />
group of enthusiastic volunteers in the<br />
Ogema Heritage Railway Association<br />
have established the <strong>Southern</strong> Prairie<br />
Motorcycling near Rockglen<br />
