Moosomin
Moosomin is the “Gateway to
Saskatchewan” and a popular
stop for many of the one million annual
travellers on the twinned Trans-
Canada Highway. Three convenient
accesses lead to business, health,
and recreational facilities. Moosomin’s
population is increasing; new homes
and businesses are being built,
proving “Moosomin is on the Move”.
Moosomin is a progressive community
offering a wide variety of business and
professional services. It is the centre
of a strong mixed-farming industry.
The potash and oil industries are
expanding. A visitor asked the desk
clerk, “Why is Moosomin so busy right
now?” She replied, “It is always this
busy. There’s oil in the area, the potash
mine is expanding, the new wind farm
is up and running.”
Moosomin, named
after a prominent
Indian chief, was the
first Saskatchewan
community built along
the Canadian Pacific
Railway in 1882.
Moosomin quickly
become an important
regional trading centre. This historic
town has many fine old homes and
public buildings, which are featured on
the Heritage Walking Tours.
Southeast Integrated Care Centre –
Moosomin opened in October 2008.
This 85-bed facility, with 58-long term
beds and 27-acute care beds, serves
a wide area. A Doctor’s Office with
Walk-In Clinic is conveniently located
downtown.
