Redvers
A
Centennial
Community
In 1870, at the time of the Red River
Rebellion, companies of British
soldiers and Ontario residents were
sent to quell the rebellion.
Young Captain Buller was in charge
of one such company. Twenty-eight
years later, he was General Sir Redvers
Buller, Commander in Chief of the
British forces in South Africa. In 1897-
98, surveyors arrived at the point where
Redvers now stands and were called
upon to give it a name. The headlines
in the newspaper that night carried the
news of the Boer War and mentioned
the name of Generals Sir Redvers
Buller, Warren, Rhodes, Methuen and
Wauchope. Our town was given the
name of Redvers and our streets the
names of the other generals. The town
was incorporated in 1904 and such is
our history.
The Log Cabin Tourist Booth is open
daily starting May long weekend to
September Labour Day weekend.
Located on Highway #13 beside
the World’s largest North West
Mounted Police statue. Inside the
wheelchair accessible cabin enjoy
coffee or iced tea and some freshly
baked Saskatoon pie. The gift
Redvers celebrated its centennial
year in 2004 and is proud to be
the first “Sask Best Community” in
Saskatchewan. In 1990, Redvers
received the Five Star Community
Award for their commitment towards
full social and economic participation
of people with disabilities.
Redvers Ag Ex and Bull Congress is
held annually on the first Thursday in
April.
Redvers Moccasins and McNeil Oak
Barrel Art are two unique businesses
selling rare Saskatchewan made
products across Canada and beyond.
Other Chamber businesses include
two grocery stores (with in house meat
and bakery departments), two Gift/Craft
Shops, three restaurants, two bed and
breakfasts, two motels/hotels with bars,
shop showcases local crafts and
Saskatchewan souvenirs. Travelers
can enjoy clean washroom and
shower facilities and have access
to onsite Internet communication
services. Both serviced and
nonserviced sites are available at the
campground. Secluded picnic area is
available for large gatherings, with a

Clothing store, two Financial Institutes,
two Convenience stores (open to
10 p.m.), four Salons, three gas/

For a family day adventure, come to
Redvers. Dad can get in an afternoon
of golf on a peaceful nine hole, grass
greens course while the kids enjoy
the heated swimming pool, tennis
or playground. Mom can escape by
taking in two unique gift and craft
shops while enjoying down-home
country atmosphere at its best.
