140,000 visitors each year explore the<br />

Royal <strong>Saskatchewan</strong> Museum in<br />

Regina to discover the “big picture” of<br />

the natural, geologic, and First Nations<br />

history of <strong>Saskatchewan</strong>. Many visitors<br />

take a trip through the history of<br />

transportation at Moose Jaw’s Western<br />

Development Museum to discover<br />

some of the ways that humankind has<br />

overcome the challenges of space and<br />

distance.<br />

Investigate the early years of prairie<br />

agriculture at the Motherwell<br />

Homestead National Historic Site, or<br />

uncover the early days of prairie<br />

manufacturing industry at the Claybank<br />

Brick Plant National Historic Site.<br />

The proud history of the North West<br />

Mounted Police/Royal Canadian<br />

Mounted Police is brought to life at<br />

Fort Walsh and the Cypress Hills<br />

Massacre Historic Site, as well as the<br />

RCMP Heritage Centre in Regina,<br />

where hands-on displays encourage<br />

families to find out more about the<br />

honour of the force.<br />

As another tribute to our province’s<br />

proud history, <strong>Southern</strong> Prairie Railway<br />

will be “Pulling the Past Into the<br />

Future” when they launch<br />

<strong>Saskatchewan</strong>’s first and only Tourist<br />

Train in Ogema during early summer of<br />

2012!<br />

<strong>Saskatchewan</strong> has a rich and diverse<br />

history of achievement in the arts,<br />

which means a wealth of galleries,<br />

literary and performance creations,<br />

and unique memorabilia to take home<br />

as a tangible memory of an<br />

unforgettable vacation experience.<br />

In many of the galleries and studios,<br />

you may see the artists at work on<br />

their latest creations. A number of the<br />

venues, like the Sagebrush Studios<br />

near Leader, and Parsons-Dietrich<br />

Pottery in Moose Jaw, are located in<br />

restored churches.<br />

Throughout the southern part of the<br />

province, galleries such as the Yvette<br />

Moore Gallery in Moose Jaw, the<br />

Grasslands Gallery in Val Marie, and<br />

the Letterbox Gallery & Gifts in<br />

Lumsden, display impressive<br />

examples of local and regional work.<br />

One of the chief delights of traveling to<br />

a new place, whether it’s for an<br />

afternoon, a weekend, or a whole<br />

summer, is sampling the culinary<br />

delights and specialties of the area!<br />
