Welcome to Whitewood!
The Town of Whitewood, located at
the crossroads of Hwys. #1and #9,
is home to about 1,000 residents. You’ll
find Whitewood has many amenities
including Reverse Osmosis water, a
modern campground, swimming pool,
arena complex, and nine-hole grass
green golf course. To accommodate
our growing community, a new
residential sub-division and commercial
sub-division is planned for 2012. There
are eight eating venues in Whitewood,
gas stations, a hardware store, gift
shops, grocery stores, a pharmacy, two
banks and ATMs for your convenience.

Millennium Mural No stop in
Whitewood would be complete without
seeing our murals, including the
Millennium Mural painted on the side of
Hamilton’s Family Foods in downtown
Whitewood. To celebrate the turning of
the century, townspeople assisted artist
Janet Blackstock and Sharon
Armstrong to paint a mural created
from an original photograph of
Whitewood, North West Territories.
Heritage Centre Whitewood is
also home to the award-winning
Merchant’s Bank Heritage Centre,
located at 714 Lalonde St. in historical
downtown Whitewood. The reclaimed
building houses an interpretive display
featuring the story of the French Counts
of St. Hubert. Visit the Heritage Centre
between mid-May and early September
and discover why this area is known as
the French Count Capital of North
America. Whitewood is also home to an
Archive Building & Historical Library
located at 503 3rd Ave. and housed in
an old restored Methodist church.
