Mission Ridge Winter Park in Fort
Qu’Appelle offers ten dynamic ski runs,
a high calibre Terrain Park, and two
bunny hills for all levels of skiers and
boarders.
The Qu’Appelle Valley is the perfect
spot for Festivals of all sorts. The
premiere event is undoubtedly the
annual Craven Country Jamboree
(July 12-15, 2012), the longest-running
multi-day music festival in Canada. For
a little folk music fix prior to your main
course of country, visit “All Folk’d Up”
in Montmartre (“Paris of the Prairies”),
their popular annual folk music festival
(July 6-8, 2012).
The province’s capital city of Regina,
honoured with the Latin title for
“Queen”, is technically included in
the Qu’Appelle Valley region. It’s a
wonderful spot to experience the arts,
culture and history that this remarkable
province has contributed to the fabric
of Canada.
The Royal Saskatchewan Museum
displays extensive collections
dedicated to Saskatchewan’s natural
and geological history and the First
Nations’ cultures, past and present.
The Government House Museum
and Heritage Property, where the
province’s Lieutenant Governors once
lived, takes you back in time to the
years when the manner of governing
a vast area of western and northern
Canada was being decided upon.
The nearby RCMP Heritage Centre
features state-of-the-art exhibits,
multimedia technologies, fascinating
programming, and tours that breathe
life into the remarkable story of the
Mounties and their accomplishments
to “Maintain the Right”!
In the eastern expanses of the
Qu’Appelle Valley, you’ll find
fascinating glimpses of history both
past and present. Near the community
of Esterhazy, the Kaposvar Historic
Site preserves artifacts and buildings,
including the Kaposvar Roman
Catholic church, honoring early
Hungarian settlement. Modern day
accomplishment is honored at the
Saskatchewan Potash Interpretive
Centre, where intriguing interactive
displays and exhibits explain the
evolution of the potash industry from
early mechanical mining to today’s
high-tech methods.
On the outskirts of historically rich
and picturesquely named Indian
